What are the main reasons you get hopups?

to reduce weight, get good looks, and kick butt.

I get hop-ups to make it stronger for the abuse of everyday running

well all of the cars and trucks that exist are cool when you buy them, but it is nice to add your own personal touch to your rc. not to mention the fact that you can increase speed, handling, and run time. and finally, hop ups make your rc look better. Josh

I get hopups to replace broken parts and to make my rc to work better than it was.

when you get hopups you can really smoke every body at the track and you also sometimes get longer run times with bigger batteries

so you can be able to kick every other racers but in the finals at infamar

SPEED!!! and MANEUVERABILITY!!! and i like to smoke my buddies when racing offroad.

As pointed out by the person last week the best hopup someone can use is track time ie: practice, practice and more practice NuffSaid ---------silver bullet hu?

Both for the looks and because of some vague notion that it might stop me from breaking so many parts.

My hops ups are for more better durability. Jeff says when i bust a part I should hop up. Sometimes I replace with RPM for increased less breakage. I run my maxx for the curb and into the crowd. So now rpm power is the way for me!!!!!!!!

Because you never get enough good stuff.

Make my car look better and faster

more adjustability.

The main reasons I get hopups are when the stock parts start to break like the dog bones so I replace them with CVD's and the stock motors are good to get the feel and control down on the car or truck. Then I put in a mod. motor and go from there. mike t RC10/rc18t

so i can get a better response of handling, my tc4 handles the best it can, but most importantly so i can get a faster time on the track

The idea behind behind a hopup is: To increase the model's ability to go faster: What a hopup should do, if it's designed correctly, is increase the model's ability to go faster by improving durability while enhancing the positive characteristics of the model without creating negative characteristics of it's own. That is why most of today's manufacturers offer FACTORY hopups which are hopups [by design] that enhance their model. Some even go as far as to endorse products by a specific aftermarket company.

Now this all sounds correct and in a [boring] perfect world would be, but everyone is different and has different tastes, likes and dislikes so the reasons could be because it looks cool or just cause. Besides that it's kind of fun to work on your model and try different things--that's what learning and living is about. So just so long as the hopups you use improve your model, increase your fun, and doesn't hurt the model's performance, safety or cause hurt or problems for others, then it's all good [well sort of] :} {It ain't the speed that hurts it's that sudden stop}NuffSaid

To improve performance of the car or to make it easier to maintain (alloy rather than plastic/carbon that strips threads)

To be the faster. Some cars don't give up all speed from box. May be supplemented with more alum parts for optimum appotion. Aluminum configurations can be for love.

Better performance or reliability.
