How do I go faster?
We've answered this question
here.
So what rims can I use by AE for the 1984 rc10 buggy?
In order to use the current wheels and tires you will need the following:
#7378 3/16 axles
#9277 bearings (3/16 x 3/8 flanged bearings)
#7369 axle pins
#7368 axle shims
I have missing or defective parts.
Fill out this
form so we can help you faster.
I want to convert electric to gas.
Our electric cars
were not designed to handle the stresses of a nitro engine. Not recommended.
We have no resources for this.

Comments: I was running a 23 pinion and a 81 spur. could there be a fault with
the speedy's lights?
It is highly unlikely. Send it to the address at bottom and we will put
it through a series of tests to determine the problem.

You can start with a 24 pinion with your 84 tooth spur.

Electric kit referenced:LRP X12
Comments: What would be a good starting point for gearing an x12 8.5 in a B4 and
a x12 7.5 in a B44.
The 8.5 run an 84/23 and the 7.5 start with a 84/22.

The new electric kits do not come with tires.

Electric kit referenced:rc18t
Comments:for racing will it be a good Idea for a slipper cluch and a carbon
fiber shaft axle
The 1:18 scale cars do not need a slipper clutch due to their small size
and lightweight. The carbon axle would further lighten the weight of the vehicle
and improve its acceleration.

Comments: I drilled the 4th hole in the rear shock tower but the shock seams to
bind onto the rear a arm. I double checked and no parts were bent. Is ther
something else you need to change when using the new 4th hole?
Why are you drilling a 4th hole? Once you start making your own mods to
the car there is really nothing I can do to help you. However, just adding
should not cause binding unless the shock is actually hitting something.

Electric kit referenced: LRP Sphere Comp
Comments: to answer your previous question about my lrp sphere problem, the
motor still worked and the speedy's blue light was flashing. everything was
normal still. and also my x12 8.5 motor smells a bit like a burnt metal smell.
If you suspect a problem please send the item in to the address on the
home page before anything becomes worse. Make sure that you are not overgeared
as this would cause the motor to unnecessarily heat up, which leads to motor
failure.

Electric kit referenced: RC10L
Comments: I have an RC10L that I got running, but still have original foam
tires, and found they are not to good for asphalt. will newer rubber tires fir
this car, or will I need to make changes to the hubs and differentials for them
to fit.
To the best of my knowledge there are no rubber tires for the 10L, you
will need to run foam tires. Look to companies like TRC and JACO.

Electric kit referenced:LRP x-12
Comments: i’ve heard the gearing for an x12 motor is different to a x11 of the

8.5 in a b4
No, you gear them the same.

Electric kit referenced: Dual 7.4V lipo balancing
Comments: This question has come up on a few boards out there, and I wanted to
know what does AE / Reedy recommend as far as charging and balancing a 2 2S 7.4V
lipo setup for the RC8E's? Currently there is only one brand of charger out
there that can charge dual lipos as 1 battery pack. Will AE release an adapter
for its lipos that will let you balance charge two batteries as 1 4S pack?
There is no adapter in the works. I would do what we do here charge both
batteries up individually. You will want to make sure that they are both fully
charged. Do not run one that is half full and the other fully charged.

Electric kit referenced:TC4 RTR
Comments:What is the drive shaft for the TC4 RTR made of? Can it handle a 3.5
turn brushless motor without bending? Thanks!
I believe it is aluminum and a 3.5 turn will be too much for the shaft
if it has a wobble in it. If the shaft starts out true you should be good.

Electric kit referenced: LRP X-11 Stock Spec
Comments: I was trying to find out if you can adjust the timing on the Stock
Spec motors. Also by replacing the rotor with a 13mm will that give more torque.
Thanks
Yes, you can adjust the timing on the motor - doing so will make the
motor run hotter so do so at your own risk, because if you burn the motor up it
will not be covered under warranty. Yes, a 13mm rotor will produce more torque.

Your name: Elliot
Electric kit referenced: B44
Comments: I have been told there has been a 72T 48P spur gear released for the
B44 to aid gearing for 17.5 stock motors, but I'm having trouble finding a part
number. Can you let me know what it is?
I have found the following: 9649 but it says for B4 / T4.
Is there much difference running a smaller spur / smaller pinion VS larger spur
/ larger pinion if the ratios work out the same?
I'm currently running an 84T spur / 35T pinion and struggling to get top speed
out of my new 17.5. Motor is running at approx 145 degrees F after a 5 minute
race.
The number for the spur gear is the same wether it is for the B4, T4 or
B44. A smaller spur and pinion will be slightly less rotating mass and therefore
spool up quicker.

Comments: will the differential adjustment screw go out of adjustment during
runs or it will stay put with no problems and is virtually maintenance free. It

Correct you should not have to worry about it until you rebuild the
transmission.

expensive than the white nylon arms.

Electric kit referenced: B44
Comments: Why side by side pack?
Should have kept the battery holder for six in line. Keeps the wallet happier,
can use existing batteries.
With todays economy don't need to buy other style batteries.
I understand your point. Remember, we took this design over from J
Concepts, so the battery layout was already set. We did not want to change the
layout as the chassis was already very balanced. Right now the chassis’ that
have the batteries running down one side of the chassis are having issues due to
the LiPo batteries being so much lighter than NiMh batteries. The good thing is
that with LiPo batteries you only need one pack. Just keep the same battery in
the chassis all night long.

Comments: I am wondering how the wheels are put on..? I am looking into
expensive aluminum wheels for a car I already own, but if they will not fit the

They are put on the same way as our RC8 and RC8T. The wheel slides over
a hex adapter and is secured using a Nylon wheel lock nut.

Electric kit referenced: RC8 Electric

I will say yes, it can, since the 6-cell NiMh batteries are the same size as the
LiPo cells.

Electric kit referenced: RC18T RTR
Comments: On a new RC18T RTR Kit, what suspension settings are recommended to
race on an asphalt parking lot track? I will be putting on street treads, but I
don't know the what ride height to use or what holes to put the shocks in. No
mods are allowed so I must tune what I can on the stock kit. Please help...
Well, we do not run it on-road but you can do several things to make it
work better on-road. I would lower the ride height as low as it can go until you
experience rubbing. Then you can add a slightly thicker oil/and spring
combination to minimize the roll of the vehicle. This alone should make the
truck much quicker on road.

Comments: Where can I find a Pulsar Competition 3 charger? I don't see them at

They are pretty popular so they may be hard to find. First make sure
your local store has them on order. If they still have a problem getting them
you can try www.ultimatehobbies.com or order them from us direct.

Electric kit referenced:LRP TC-Spec
Comments: The screws that hold the fan onto the heatsink no longer thread onto
the heatsink because the threads on the heatsink are stripped... Because of this
the fan no longer stays on the heatsink because the screw slide straight out. IS
there any way of fixing this?
I am being told by LRP that you can pinch the corners together slightly
so that the screw can once again dig into the soft metal of the heatsink.

Comments: i have an rc10t with an 8.5 novak havak bl, how do i gear it/ how do i

the electric car is just to blow it off with compressed air.

Electric kit referenced: 12r5
Comments:I,m racing in mod class and I want a new motor any advice, and how many
turns do the team drivers use
Depending on what class you are running we run from a 10.5 to 5.5. I
would recommend an 8.5 combo. That is a good medium. A 5.5 combo is extremely
fast for the best of drivers. Move your way up slowly - don’t overdo it all at
once.

Comments: At high speed turning I'm getting a chatter in the front, coming from
the steering links, and the camber links. It seems that there is a lot of play
in the steering post and the ackerman plate. Do you have any suggestions to get
rid of this play and tighten the front end up?
Thank you again.
It appears that you may have the steering post spacer missing. Make sure
that this spacer is installed. Also make sure that your dual rate is not trying
to over steer the steering knuckles and bending the arms.

Regards,

Make sure that you are using the low profile nuts first of all: #3438.
Then make sure the axle does not have any grease and or oil on the threads and
use a new nut. Perhaps the nut you were using was old.

Electric kit referenced: B44
Comments: Why is it that, when I land a jump, on the gas, on the back wheels
while I downslope a jump, that the diff gears get beaten on?
When on the throttle, the pinion gear is turning the spur gear at high
speed. When the rear tires hit the ground, the driveline has to slow instantly
and that puts tremendous strain on the diff gears, which are the weakest link in
the driveline. Try and loosen your slipper clutch slightly. That way that sudden
stopping force is dissipated through the slipper clutch and not onto the gears.

Comments: This is really about an LRP motor, 5.5 brushless, says VTEC on the
end...
I messed up the soldering, shorted it out. I open the end by the wires and
noticed a couple surface mount components blew up. They have no markings on them
so I have no idea what they were. I am guessing they were capacitors.
Can you send me info on their specs? And perhaps a schematic so I make sure I
put them on correctly.
Thanks!
Craig
Craig,
We do not have that information. That information would be provided by
the manufacturer. They can be reached at

Not safely! You can technically charge them but the charger will not
detect the peak and the batteries will explode. My opinion: Do Not Charge LiPos
with this charger!**********************************

Comments: Can you put part #1728 in a B44 (one way diff). I used to have a
different 4 wheel drive vehicle and seemed to turn better.
Yes, that is the part number that you will use if you want a one way
bearing in your B44.

They give you carbon arms and shock towers but you get a composite
chassis.

Comments: hi, i would like some info on the design of the b44, what did the
designers have in mind when designing the car. meaning why is their more weight
towards the rear of the car, shock positions, calculated roll centers and any
other design aspect of the car that would be of use when setting up. would be
nice if you know where you are starting from.
Sorry, this question is outside the scope of this section.

Electric kit referenced: RC10T4
Comments: In a previous question AE recommended a 78 tooth spur gear and a 30
tooth pinion gear on a T4 with a 17.5 turn brushless motor. By my calculations
this is a FDR of 6.76. Previously to that a user recommended a 66 tooth spur
(being considered for production) and a 20 tooth pinion gear when using a 17.5
turn brushless. By my calculations this is a FDR of 8.58. What is the correct
FDR for a T4 with a 17.5 turn brushless motor?
The final drive ratio that we run here is about a 7.02. We use the 81
spur and a 30 pinion.

Comments: I noticed that you sell ceramic bearings for the LRP brushless motors.
Will these offer a performance increase if I replace the stock bearings in my
motor with these?
No - they will last longer though, because they are of a harder
material.

Comments: I snapped the diff trust screw in my tranny and put a new one in and
the clutch slips now. i took it apart all the gears and bearings are ok. what is
the problem?
You need to replace the diff screw and the nut as the nut may have
stripped and will not hold. Tighten down all the way and back out 1/8 of a turn
only.

Comments: Hi - I'm going to compete to a vintage offroad race, so I gave a clean
to my old RC10 with stealth 2.25 transmission; rules allows 540 white can only,
I have no idea on how gear it: do you think 23/81 is a good starting point,
considering "modern" (gp3700) batteries? Thanks!
You will probably want to start out with a 21/81 and if you need to go
up from their you can.

Electric kit referenced: B4/T4
Comments: This is question is not about ride height. On the front end of either
vehicle, an option is given to either have the front axles up, middle, or down.
By changing the axle height what will that do?
By raising or lowering the ride height on one end of the car, it changes
the steering characteristics, but more importantly, the roll center will also be
lowered, making the end of the car roll deeper when the car corners, making it
sit lower and thus having more grip.

Comments: For this new battery coming out I see that it will come with a
charging harness. Can you post pics of this on your site? reason I ask is that I
have seen another battery having a harness included, but its a separate balancer
setup, so you can't directly balance and charge at the same time as my charger
does.
You can set up a balancer made by Astro to balance and charge at the
same time.

By moving the front axle up or down, how will the vehicles react?
Raising or lower the ride height on one end of the car changes the
steering characteristics, but more importantly, the roll center will also be
lowered, making the end of the car roll deeper when the car corners, making it
sit lower and thus giving it more grip.

Comments: I obtained a Novak SS4300 motor. What are the starting FDR's?
It would be best to ask Novak…since I do not see the 4300 motor on their
spec sheet on their web site. I not sure of what the 4300 motor is equal to, be
sure to tell them what battery you are running with it, Lipo, NiMh.

Comments: I'll be using a 13.5 & 17.5 What are the recommended FDR for the T4 &
B4 both using one or the other of the motors?
For the T4 start out with a 22/78 for the 13.5 and 30/78 for 17.5. The
B4 start with a 28/78 for the 13.5 and 33/78 for the 17.5.

It already has plenty of rear toe. What is the rest of your setup like? Also
when was the last time the diff was
rebuilt?...................................My set up is what the book calls
for...Fresh diff ,New tires before every race...I am not new to rc racing ..So
please answer my question....I have alot more rear toe in on my Gt ,So I will
have to dissagree with you When you say that the "T4 has plenty of toe in"..I
know what the truck needs..I would like to know if you guys are going to offer
any options for more rear toe in?..This would be a very smart move..
No, we are not.

Sorry Brad we do not have additional rear hubs to add more toe in. The
three degrees per side works 99.9 percent of the time. There really is no need
to change it - that is the reason for no additional options in this area.
