There are several methods we can use to go faster. But we must first define which way we want to go faster:
1. Do you want faster top end
- the fastest speed you can attain in a straight line?
2. Do you want faster acceleration - quicker
acceleration from a slow speed or out of corners?
3. Do you want the fastest way around a track?
a. The easiest way to get higher top end is to change your pinion gear (or
clutch bell) to a pinion with one or two more teeth than you have.
b. Get a faster motor. If you have a stock motor, get a spec class motor for
more speed, or a modified motor (and an upgraded speed control) for even more
speed.
c. If you have a modified motor, get an armature with fewer turns for more top
end.
d. Change your bushings to bearings.
e. Clean or oil your bearings, or replace worn ones.
f. Check the gear mesh between the pinion gear and spur gear. They should be
able to rock a little with your finger.
a. The easiest way to get faster acceleration is to change your pinion gear

b. Change your tires. Traction matters.
c. Replace metal parts with plastic parts. Too much weight slows down your car.
a. Practice until you can drive consistent lap times without crashing.
b. Try to stay close to the track's best drive line.
c. Experiment with your car's setup by making one adjustment at a time. Test
before committing. If you are faster around the track, keep that adjustment and
try another.
d. Move your batteries back. This places more weight toward the rear, thus
giving the rear tires more traction.
e. Pay attention to your oil/spring combination. If your car bounces too much,
that's poor traction. You can't accelerate while your tires are in the air.
