How do I convert from LS to L2?
If you want to change it so it has the symmetrical T-plate like the L2 you would
need:
T-plate, #8191, $6.50,
base plate, #8204, $11.00
top plate, #8206, $14.00
left rear bulkhead, #4536, $3.00
motor bulkhead, #4537, $20.00.
How do I convert the L3T to L3O?
You will have to buy several parts:
Top Plate, #8463, $12.00
Base Plate, #8461, 12.00
Cross Brace, #8462, 8.50
Micro Shocks (2), #4470, 15.00 each shock if you want it to be a 3 shock car
otherwise tweak it by the T-plate
Right side Hub, #8467, 14.00
Pivot balls, #4448, 3.00 for 8 and #6270, 2.50 for 2
I just wanted to know if I could switch chassis with 10L2 and 10L3 Oval cars so
I could just buy one or the other?
It's can be done but to change from one to the other, you will have to buy
several chassis parts to do the change over:
1. Top Plate
2. Base Plate
3. Cross Brace
Can I switch the chassis between the L3T and L3O? The rears look similar.
The rears are similar, but you will need different pieces to do the change.
From L3T to L3O you will need:
qty 1 #8462 chassis brace, $8.50
qty 1 #8461 lower pod plate, $12.00
qty 1 #8463 dampener plate, 12.00
And if your 10L3T doesn't have 3 shocks you will need the two side shocks:
qty 2 #4470 shocks, $15.00 ea.
Can the RC10LSS be converted to newer rear axle and tire and is front end
upgradeable?
You can put on the Dynamic Strut front suspension and use the new L3 rear axle.
Do you have a conversion kit to make the L2 a touring car?
In order to convert, you would have to change:

Adding more tension to the center shock transfers weight to the front end to
increase front-end bite.
3 How do I tell the early chassis' apart from each other? RC10L,
LS, LSS?
The 10L chassis has 5 battery slots on both sides and it's considered a wide car
with a wide rear pod.
The 10LS chassis is the same chassis as the 10L, but it has a reactive caster
front end and wide rear pod.
The 10LSS super speedway was a narrow chassis and it has 6 battery slots on the
left and 4 on the right, narrow rear pod, block style front end, and narrow rear
motor pod.
4 I have an RC10L with foam tires, and the back are held on with

What rims and tires can I put on it for the road?
Bolink made a set of rubber tires mounted on rims that will fit
pan type cars. Their part number was #3207-A.

Bolink made an axle that replaces the original and it will fit into the
steering block, and it uses a nut to hold on the wheel instead of an E-clip.
6 How can I move up to a bigger spur and pinion? Now I'm only
able to put a 100 spur and a 38 pinion. I need to go bigger but the motor won't
move forward enough.
To give your 10L more space, there are a couple of things to do. First, use the
small #4449 4-40 nuts on the T-plate where it bolts to the pod. Then at the end
of the T-plate file, sand or use a Dremel™ on the edge so it's angled. That will
give you some more forward movement on the motor. Second, install Kimbrough's
ride adjusters. There is one that moves the axle back about 1/8" or so. Between
those two you should have room to go bigger on the spur and pinion.

8 There's a lot of dust on the pavement. I am having trouble
getting good rear traction.
You are experiencing the biggest headache of running a light weight straight
axle car on a dusty surface. The foam tires are like real race tires when you
hear race car drivers talking about getting into the marbles this is what the
dust is like for foam tires. For what you are doing you need a high down force
body such as a GTP style body with a extra wing. We have our #6125 Jaguar XJR16
GTP narrow body which is designed for all of our oval cars. Run a #8101 or #8102
rear wing with it. You can also try a Pro-Line #1402 Nissan P-35 GTP body as
well. The other thing you can do is go to rubber tires. We make rubber tires
that are the same diameter as the standard 10L-SS tires. They were made for our
RC10DS and RC10NDS suspension gearbox on road cars. Pro-Line makes a set of
wheels for the RC10L which will allow the mounting of these tires onto a RC10L
series car. Our part numbers for the tires are #8886 and #8896.
9 What are the spring rates for the center shock of the 10L3O?
The rates for the center springs are:
Black = 3.2
Green = 3.5
Silver= 3.8
10 RC10L3: What size pinion & spur gear I should use on a 11
turn quad motor to get the highest top end or best results out of the motor?
You should gear it 20-87.
11 What do the 10 degree mounts do for the setup of the 10L3O?
They give the car more turn-in at low speed.
12 I can't seem to get my 10L3O balanced. Are you supposed to
tweak it without the battery mounted?
When you tweak your car with the battery to the left you may require a stiffer
spring on one side so both tires stay even.
13 I have the 10L3 Oval. When do we use the short wheelbase?
The short wheelbase works extremely well on tight tracks. It is also good to use
that short wheelbase on tracks where you need more rear traction.
14 I just bought a L3O and know nothing about oval racing and
would like to know why a wing is necessary.
A wing is usually necessary to lock the car in to give the car more rear
traction at high speed.
15 I have a 10L3 and would like your advice on the problem of
the left rear tire rubbing on the motor pod bottom plate when the car is set up
in the offset pod option.
When off-setting the pod, both tires should be trimmed slightly. Most of the
racers either run cap tires which are not as wide as stock foam tires, or racers
will trim the foam tires to be slightly narrower than the stock foam tires.
16 Should the center screw be taken out on a small carpet on
road course, center? And what would you suggest the compound of tire, and front
springs?
For racing on carpet I recommend keeping the center screw in unless the surface
is very bumpy. Gray rear tires and purple fronts by Jaco. Front springs: .022.
17 Can the VCS Micro Shock replace the Associated shock on
rc10L2 or is it called the macro shock and is it a better upgrade?
The VCS micro shock is designed to replace the shock on Associated and other
1:12 scale cars or the same shocks on other three-shock 1:10 scale cars. The new
VCS Macro shock is the larger center shock which can be used to replace the old
10L shock. The shock is noticeably smoother.
18 I have a stock 10L. Can I upgrade it to an L2?
There are several ways to make improvements to your 10L but unfortunately it
cannot be upgraded to the new L2. By the time you purchased all of the parts you
would have bought the L2 kit. Look at the web for the new Factory Team parts.
The hubs and many of the other parts will work for all 10L cars. Also if you do
not have the Dynamic Strut front end that alone will make a major improvement in
the car's performance.
19 What is the correct width body to use on the RC10L on road?
The RC10L on road requires wide bodies; the RC10L oval cars require narrow
bodies.
20 What is the main differences between the L2 Oval and the L3
Oval?
a. Chassis.
b. The rear pod uses side shocks instead of dampener plates.
c. The L3O comes with better hubs and titanium turnbuckles.
21 I wanted to know if you could tell me some bodies and their
brand names that would fit the L3 oval I am going to buy.
Protoform makes a wide variety of oval bodies that fit the car perfectly.
Pro-Line is the distributor for Protoform bodies.
22 Where can I get the formula for calculating rollout for my
10L2O?
Here is the formula:
Spur Gear divided by Pinion Gear = Drive Ratio; Tire Circumference divided by
Drive Ratio = Roll Out.
23 Our on road courses are very bumpy. I lose forward traction
over the bumps.
To keep the rear on the ground, try a softer rear spring and lighter shock oil.
Also take the center screw out that mounts the pod to the T-bar. A little larger
tire diameter will help as well.
24 What sort of conditions do you use inserts to limit the side
to side sway?
I use the roll limiters in the L2 when I need to car to react very quickly.
25 RC10L2O. I was wondering if the inline steering would make a
noticeable difference on the Dominguez or Encino Velodrome tracks.
Inline steering blocks will make you car very twitchy at high speeds. Because
both Encino and Dominguez are high speed tracks, it's best to use the offset
steering blocks.
26 RC10L2. I'm racing on a small flat carpet oval track and
wondered if adding the center screw on the back of the T-Bar will loosen the
rear-end up. Any suggestions for setup for a small carpet oval?
Adding the center screw on the back of the T-bar will make the rear of the car
more rigid, resulting in the loss of rear traction. You can control the amount
of steering by adjusting the tweak. By putting more weight on the inside front
tire, our car will steer more to the left. More weight on the outside front tire
will under steer. Also, try using the inline front axle/steering blocks #8441
and #8443. These will add steering to the 10L2 oval.
27 Could you explain why you split batteries. Is it weight
distribution, polar moment, what?
What you need to do depends on how tight the corners are and how much banking
there is. When there is more than 15 degrees banking, the standard car will be
the best setup. When there is less than 15 deg. or even 0 deg., you need to move
the batteries as far as possible to the left side of the car. Also, by moving
the motor to the left the rear pod assembly will corner better. For "Velodrome"
high banked ovals, the weight is better balanced side to side because there is
little need for steering and the car is easier to get up to speed from the
start.
What all this should tell you is that the center of gravity is very important,
depending on the amount of banking:
Tight corners/low banking = low c.g.
Wide open/high banking = balanced weight, higher c.g.
