How do I convert my L2O pan car to a three-shock system?
I would like to put rubber tires on my L3 Oval.
How do I convert my 12L3Oval to a 12L3?
What kind of bushings/bearings are used on the 10L3 Oval?
I would like to know how fast my L3 oval should go.
What are the spring rates for the center shock of the 10L3O?
I am looking for a front end alignment gauge for my L3O.
I would like to know when the Team is going to produce a graphite bumper for the L30 car.
10L3 Oval. When do I use the short wheelbase?
1 I have a question about the two speed gear set up. The big
gear spins freely in one direction and does not go in the other; however, the
smaller gear spins in both, and there is a gap. Is this right?
Yes, the 2-speed has a one way bearing in it and that will stop it from spinning
in one direction, and the clutch bell gears will spin both ways until the clutch
shoes engage. There is a gap between the 2-speed gears of about 1/8th of an
inch.
1 I was wondering if you could give me some set up
tips for my RC10L3 Oval with the new 4 cell team chassis. I will be racing it on
a fairly small totally flat track. The surface will be carpet. The batteries
will be 2400 4 cells. The motor will be stock. How should I set my car up to
best handle these
Here is a starting point.
Left front spring a 20, part #8429. Right front spring a 22, part #8431.
Purple or green compound tires, both front tires, and if you are getting
traction roll, change the right front to a red if you're running purples, and a
blue if you're running green.
Left rear spring gold, part #8453, Right rear spring red, part #8454.
30-weight oil in both side shocks and for the Center shock with 30-weight and
#2 piston with a silver spring that is stock with the kit #6496.
Place the batteries all the way out to the left and if you have too much bite
through the corner move them in ¼ of an inch, and if you need more rear try
running the offset pod and then you will need to get the option right hub 8459.
2 On the RC10L3 Oval micro shocks on each side of the pod I am
having problems with the plastic nuts stripping. Is there a hop up or kit for
some made of some type of alloy?
IRS (Irgang Racing) made a knurled nut that fit the shock.
3 How do I convert my L2O pan car to a three-shock system?
You'll need these parts:
#8476, Top plate, qty 1
#6917, Ballstud, qty 1
#4470, VCS Micro Shock, qty 2
#6270, Ballstud, short, qty 2.
Remove dampener assembly and tweak screws.
4 I would like to put rubber tires on my L3 Oval.
If you want caps, BSR and Pro-Line make them.
5 How do you tweak the car?
I tweak the car from the front end. The best way to do so is by placing two
pennies on the top of the front tires. Next, find the center line of the chassis
in the front and slowly lift the front of the car off of the surface. Now if you
car is tweak perfect both front tires will allow the pennies to fall off at the
same time. If one penny falls off before the other one does there is a tweak in
the car. For example. Say the right tire comes off of the ground first this
means you will tighten the left side tweak screw. Each time you tighten a tweak
screw make sure that you un-tighten the other side the same amount. This way of
tweaking works really good and is very easy to do.
6 How do I convert my 12L3Oval to a 12L3?
What you will need is just the #4507 chassis, the #4530 rear top plate, #4534
rear chassis brace, and the #4516 dampener post, #4340 dampener washer, #4517
dampener spring, #8330 dampener O-ring, and finally #6920 and #6466 screws and
washers. Remember you have to remove the two side shocks as well.
7 What kind of bushings/bearings are used on the 10L3 Oval?
The 10L3 oval uses #897 1/4 x 3/8 flanged bearings in the diff and #6902 3/16 x
5/16 flanged bearings for the front wheels.
8 I would like to know how fast my L3 oval should go.
Depending upon the track size and which stock motor the L3 should be able to go
30 to 35 mph. If you are running on a large Velodrome then we have reached
speeds of over 40 mph in stock class.
9 I don't understand how to choose gear ratios. I want to use 64
pitch gears. How do I gear my car with different winds?
For pan cars the gear ratio we use is the pinion ratio. This is calculated by
taking the number of teeth in the spur gear and dividing it by the number of
teeth in the pinion gear. As an example if you were running a 100 tooth spur
gear and a 25 tooth pinion gear the pinion ratio would be 4.00:1. Another
example would be a 112 spur gear and a 32 tooth pinion the pinion ratio would be
3.50:1.
10 What are the spring rates for the center shock of the 10L3O?
The rates for the center springs are:
Black = 3.2 lbs.
Green = 3.5 lbs.
Silver= 3.8 lbs.
11 I am looking for a front end alignment gauge for my L3O.
One is made by RaceTech in Florida. This one is supposed to do camber, caster,
and toe-in.
12 I would like to know when the Team is going to produce a
graphite bumper for the L30 car.
We believe the foam bumper, combined with the kit bumper, is more impact
absorbent than a stiff graphite bumper.
13 10L3 Oval. When do I use the short wheelbase?
The short wheelbase works extremely well on tight tracks. It is also good to use
that short wheelbase on tracks where you need more rear traction.
14 I got a L3 and I can't get bigger than a 32 pinion 64 pitch
on it because it hits on the T-plate. What can you do about this?
There are two ways to try get more adjustment for motor and pinion. The first is to use the Kimbrough rear axle ride height adapters. They offset the bearings to the back about 1/16 of an inch to allow more gear adjustment. You can also use a file to bevel the back edge of the T-bar which will let the motor rotate more.
